The Slotted Spring Pin is a low cost, highly versatile component which has simplified many assembly and manufacturing processes. They are formed by rolling steel strip to form a slotted cylinder and are produced accurately to a free diameter slightly larger than the receiving hole with one or both ends being chamfered.

Originally manufactured according to DIN 1481 (heavy duty) and DIN 7346 (light duty), which has been superceded by ISO 8752 and ISO 13337 respectively, with inch sizes generally confirming to ANSI B18.8.2

Also available:

  • Light duty pins, ISO 13337 (Series A51)
  • Non-interlocking pins

Materials:

  • Carbon steel, self colour (Series A50)
  • A2 Stainless steel (Series D50)

Coiled Spring Pins

The Coiled Spring pin is manufactured in a much lighter gauge of material than the slotted version but is roll formed 2.1/4" coils to produce similar strength characteristics.

There are three types available, the difference being the gauge of strip used in their production.

  • Light duty, ISO 8751 - for use with soft, brittle or thin materials (Series 55)
  • Medium duty, ISO 8750 – our standard stock range (Series A55)
  • Heavy duty, ISO 8748 – used to give extra strength (Series 55)

A variety of materials and finishes available, our standards being:

  • Carbon steel, medium duty, self colour (Series A55)
  • Nickel Stainless steel, medium duty, (Series D55)
  • Chrome Stainless steel
