The Retaining Pin, also known as Spring Cotters, R Pins or Hair Pin Cotters, are an easily fitted and easily removed spring steel wire retention device for shaft mounted items. They rely on their inherent spring force to maintain their installed position inserted diametrically through the shaft.

Series 90 Double Coil has significant advantages:

• It produces a complete ring which is much safer to attach a lanyard.
• It increases the elasticity and so gives wider size coverage.

Our Series 92 Safety pins are as the name implies, a safety method of locking the pin to the larger diameter shafts and also accommodates a wider variety of fitment applications.

The Clamp type is inexpensive, easy to attach and remove spring steel wire retention or location devices, which is similar in application to the peg type range.

They are extensively used on shaft assemblies where location only is required, or where light axial loads have to be restrained. No special tooling is necessary and the clips are suitable for volume production.

A more sophisticated Retaining Pins as it offers additional security in its location.

Stock sizes are made from High Carbon Spring Steel and zinc plated, though they can be produced in Stainless Steel if there is quantity demand.
